Male Pelvic Problems

Men can have pain and/or scar tissue problems after pelvic surgeries such as prostatectomy, hernia repair, and disease or injury of the colon, rectum, bladder, or genitalia. Unfortunately, sometimes these conditions result in incontinence of the bladder or bowel, reduced sexual function, restricted mobility and persistent discomfort.

Physical Therapy Intervention:

  • Manual techniques to address scar tissue restrictions.
  • Education regarding dietary and lifestyle contribution to incontinence.
  • Muscle education to increase pelvic floor strength which can improve continence and sexual function.
  • Pain relief strategies.
  • Biofeedback, electrical stimulation, ultrasound, and home exercise programs.
