Osteoporosis

Osteoporosis occurs when bones become thin and porous and are prone to fracture. It is a silent condition until a bone breaks,  and then can be very painful. In fact, hip fractures in the elderly are a common cause of permanent disability and even death. Women who are thin and fair are at the increased risk for developing osteoporosis, but men and women alike are likely to have thinning bones associated with aging.

Diet and exercise are two very important components of prevention and treatment of osteoporosis.
